Interesting Article on importance of cricket in India

Is Cricket the only sport we know?
Congrats Team India. You have showed the “Chak De” effect. No words would be adequate to describe the euphoria of the young Indian Crowd. But why such inequality within us? I am certainly not an agitator of the growth of cricket, but the players (in whatever field of sport) have to be treated equally.
We did win the Asia Cup. Where were the politicians then? Where was this young crowd who now claim to be proud of being an Indian? This is the problem with us. Don’t our action violate the fundamental right of equality? If this stage persists, sure none of the other players will really want to win. What is the ministry of sports going to do?
Dear Indians, where were you not there to give a gorgeous welcome to Viswanathan Anand. A game of mind is sure far more tougher. Winning the World Chess Championship again and again is not easy too.
Why ask the crowd, the projectors of every day life, The Media, why such inequality? Was the hype same over winning the Asia Cup or Winning the World Chess Championship and with the coverage for T20 World Championship? Just one column write-up when compared to two huge pages of facts and facts. Don’t the other sports have the same amount of facts, I certainly doubt.
Whatever field it is, don’t our people represent us? Then why aren’t we proud of us? Aren’t we still one-sided? Its high time we give a serious thought about this.
Kudos for all the players who shown the world the place of Indians.
